for technologically advanced planets (like Contura, vs Hekshano which is stuck in 1970) the fear of pandemic is huge. so, all visitors coming in from space have to go through a process by which they're sterilized and checked for dangerous infections diseases.
ALL visitors. even stow-aways. you literally can not get down to the planet's surface from a docking platform without doing this.
if you land out in the jungles, you'll probably be eaten before you make it to a city. but even then, the cities have walls and checks which would sound a thousand alarms...aaaand you'd be forced to go through the process anyway.

Haha, they've sure got security down! Though I've heard of surviving viruses/ bacteria/ pests growing stronger because of exposure to to much pest control, but I guess that's why this procedure is so thorough!
